Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), also known by its Chinese name Ling Zhi which means ‘spiritual potency’, has been revered for centuries for supporting longevity and spiritual growth, uniquely balancing mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) it is known as a ‘Qi’ tonic able to support the body’s protective vital energy that maintains overall health and vitality. Modern research has identified it as a powerhouse of over 400 bioactive compounds giving Reishi its functional effect. The most abundant and well-known are polysaccharides compounds (including beta-glucans) and triterpenoids (known as ganoderic acids).
